How’s my training going ?

My Training is going great at the moment – I have just completed Jack Daniels Advanced marathon plan in preparation for Wilmslow Half Marathon.  It went great and I felt I peaked at just the right time which meant I achieved a PB. I am now moving into the fell season which means a shift in training, less speed more endurance and hill reps required.

I keep a diary of all my racing and training: time, distances, HR etc, etc . This helps me keep and track  of my progress and ensures I peak for races when required.

I use downloadable plans like the ones below.

Beginner – all major distances

5k – audible 5k plan for beginners

Advanced – all major distances
I have used these plans myself – especially good for club athletes looking to step up to the mark !!

I also use several weight-training exercises to improve my upper body and core strength.  Having good muscle tone and posture is vital for maintaining fast efficient technique.  This is especially important to be able to perform when you are tired and your technique can falter.  Please see videos below for evidence of these.  Some moves are easier than others but all can be achieved with time and patience.
